Supported file types
| Format | Extension |
|---|---|
| Markdown | .md |
| Word document | .docx, .doc |
| Plain text | .txt |
| Rich text | .rtf |
Maximum file size: 4 MB per file.
How to import
- Open the Knowledge Base.
- In the sidebar, click the ⋯ (more options) button next to the Library where you want the Pages to appear.
- Click Import.
- In the import dialog, drag and drop your files onto the drop zone, or click Upload file to browse and select files. You can select multiple files at once.
- The import starts immediately. A confirmation message appears when each file is processed successfully.
The imported Pages appear in the sidebar. Each file becomes a separate Page using the file name as the Page title.
Tip You can also start an import from the Get Started screen that appears in an empty Knowledge Base — look for the Upload file option there.
After importing
Imported Pages are plain documents. You can:
- Edit the title and content using the Page editor
- Move the Page into a Cluster to organise it
- Require staff to acknowledge the Page
- Create a Test based on the Page content
Note Formatting from Word documents is converted to the closest equivalent in the Page editor. Complex layouts (multi-column tables, custom styles) may simplify during conversion — review the Page after import and adjust as needed.
Troubleshooting
"Unsupported format" error — Check that the file extension is one of the supported types listed above. Files with unsupported formats are skipped; other files in the same batch still import.
"Import failed" error — The file may be corrupted or exceed the 4 MB limit. Try re-exporting from the source application and importing again.
Page title shows the file name with extension — Rename the Page after import by clicking the title at the top of the editor.
